As part of my 101 list, I will be donating to a charity for every list item I accomplish. I've just discovered what that charity will be:

Helping Women Survivors of War Rebuild Their Lives Women for Women International

Please take a few moments to learn about this extremely worthy cause. As one woman put it, "women are the "glue" that holds society together". When she is threatened, by war and its aftermath, society suffers tremendously...

In whatever way you can, reach out to our sisters around the world who are in dire, desperate need of a helping hand.

Motivation for the Day Zero Project....

So....I discovered a long time ago that I just do better if I write things down. Otherwise I tend to forget, procrastinate, and generally get distracted by life. In addition to sometimes forgetting things, I usually just have SO MANY things going on that some inevitably just get pushed to the back burner to make room for the more urgent things. Thus, the list of unfinished projects gets ever-longer.......and longer.
In an effort to finally wrap up a bunch of those tasks, and add some exciting ones too, I've decided to take the challenge: accomplish 101 things in 1001 days. Some are easy, some are quite challenging, some cost nothing but time, some will take time to save up for.
I've tried to pick things that generally fall completely within my control: i.e., I don't have to significantly rely on external forces or entities to accomplish them. Nothing is entirely dependent upon my job, per se, or my spouse, family, etc. except those few that they are invited to attend/participate in.
I hope to come to the end of the challenge feeling inspired, successful, energized, and ready for the next 101.

Purely Personal (20)

12. finish my BSME degree: graduation date is May 15 2010. WOOHOO!!!!! IT IS DONE!!!! Summa cum laude!!

18. get a pedicure

23. make a motivational playlist: done, but open for more additions

29. grow my nails, suitable for nailpolish: May have to revisit this over and over....

31. meet Carla & Josh

41. Become a member of Mensa

45. get my scar "fixed"

49. determine what my purpose is in life

52. write a journal to my dad (in remembrance) xxxxxx

55. research/build a motorcycle w/ sidecar...ok...research

64. finish my vision board……finally

69. have my t-shirt logo printed at café press

78. if I succeed at (77), repeat 4 more times

76. use my "green" bags 50 times: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX 85. do 5 things to save energy/reduce carbon foot print; post it 1. recycling paper, glass, plastic, metal from our house waste 2. insulating house to reduce energy usage 3. made a compost bin and am using it 4. Replaced the light bulbs in the house with LED and low energy compact flourescent bulbs 5. Programmable thermostat, setting heat on 6-8 degrees cooler when no one is home or everyone is sleeping; also keeping heat 2-5 degrees cooler than previously. Summer settings will be converse. 87. get rid of dying apricot tree in the yard. Replace with a new one in a different spot 67. re-do the front flower beds: in progress 6. paint the bathroom: DONE!! 7. paint the kitchen 8. tile the kitchen backsplash 14. finish the bedroom: drywall scheduled for completion 12/9/09; Drywall complete,priming and painting complete. Currently building the cabinets. Carpet to be installed on 1/12/2011 20. get the A/C fixed in my car 21. get the brakes fixed in my car 26. plant a tree 30. replant the houseplants - get some new containers 59. design/build an outdoor "gazebo-type" lounge/bed with cushions, curtains and a roof. 70. replace the vanity and flooring in the bathroom 71. spend one weekend per room in the house cleaning, purging, recycling, donating, organizing, repairing 81. build a coffee cup shelf to display my "souvenir" cups 88. paint the living room 92. landscape the yard to resemble "T's m.e." 91. trim raspberries bushes and thin canes; remove rocks and install trellis; install border; mulch 9. clean out the eaves 36. sort/purge/donate fabric & patterns

Finding stuff & being on time (7)

13. organize my schoolbooks & notes: digitize the notes
15. organize my non-school books
24. organize all my printed photos & scan
57. digitize all my favorite recipes & organize so I can find them when I need them
58. make a scrapbook of my goals
72. time myself on the tasks I do regularly and determine how long it "ACTUALLY" takes me to get things done; then schedule appropriate amounts of time to do them
